River bank cleanup

Regular work continues to remove litter from the riverbank. Rubbish that has been dumped or washed in by the river can pose a threat to wildlife and pollute the environment as it breaks up, or be washed further down river and into the sea

The rubbish comes in all sorts of shapes and sizes, from carrier bags and fluffy toys, to motorbikes and furniture. But since a major initial clean up effort with the help of Hackney Parks last year, a little and often is now our litter picking mantra, preventing pollutants and waste material eventually making its way out to sea.

This team took the opportunity in between other tasks to make a quick tour, removing litter and keeping on wildlife and plants as they go.
