Midwinter hedge laying sessions.
Hedges need to be layed periodically to maintain their structure, biodiversity and habitat.
We were fortunate to work with EcoActive and the South of England Hedge Laying Society to lay the garden’s 50 metres of mixed native hedgerow, originally planted in 2013. A team of our volunteers braved the frosty conditions to learn how to lay a hedge in the South of England style.
As well as laying the established hedge, gaps were filled, and over 400 new tree saplings were planted, including rowan, hornbeam, birch, and holly.
